Mr. Michael Sumnick of Huguenot, NY, died Thursday, February 15, 2018 at home with his loving family by his sided.  He was 94.

He was born February 4, 1924 in Secaucus, NJ the son of the late Michael and the late Sophie Sudol Sumnick.

He proudly served our country in the United States Army during World War II.  He was a member of the VFW in Wallington, NJ.

Michael worked for 36 years as a Machine Operator for Royce chemical in E. Rutherford, NJ.  He then worked in the maintenance department for the Bergen County Courthouse.

He was married to his loving wife, Dolores Hovencamp Sumnick for 45 years until her passing in 2014.

A family statement read: “Dad was a man who fought for freedom, stood for faith, modeled hard work and loved his family.”

He was predeceased by his son, Kenneth Sumnick and his daughter Dolores Sumnick; stepsons, Thomas Sumnick and John Finn; Siblings: John, David, Robert and a set of Twins, Lottie Koc and Michele Bramwell.                       


Family and friends are invited to the Gray-Parker Funeral Home, Inc., 100 E. Main St., Port Jervis, NY 12771 on Sunday, February 18, 2018 from 5:00pm – 7:00pm.


Funeral services will be held on Monday, February 19, 2018 at 11:30 am at the funeral home with Rev. Wayne Varga officiating.


Burial will be at Rural Valley Cemetery, Cuddebackville, NY.
