Obituary of Edward Schoonmaker, Sr.
Mr. Edward Raymond “Grizzly” Schoonmaker, Sr. a long time resident of Westbrookville, NY died Tuesday, April 25, 2017 at home. He was 68.
He was born August 11, 1948 in Middletown, NY the son of the late William Schoonmaker and the late Shirley Springer Schoonmaker.
Edward was the widower of the late Marie Schoonmaker she died on May 17, 2012.
He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during Vietnam.
Edward worked for 30 years as an Auto Mechanic for West Main Auto in Middletown, NY
He was a member of: Disabled American Veterans, Goshen chapter.
Family statement read: “Dad was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and uncle. He loved fishing and spending time early in the morning, relaxing on the lake. He was a man of many traits, may his hands be at rest.”
2 Daughters: Kristina M. Mercilliott (Matthew) and Loni Rae Heichel (Jason)
2 Sons: Edward Raymond Schoonmaker, Jr. (Maryellen) and Jeffery Joseph Schoonmaker
2 Brothers: William Schoonmaker (Lillian) and Daniel Schoonmaker
3 Sisters: Tanya Schoonmaker, Sharon “Sherry” Thompson (James) and Karen Clifford
9 Grandchildren: Kevin Ventrice, Edward Schoonmaker III, Troy, Paul, Kassie and Robert Mercilliott, Audrey, Alexavier and Abbigail Heichel.
Great granddaughter Emma Elizabeth
Great grandson and birthday buddy: Kevin “K.J.”
Sister-in-law: Carmella Schoonmaker
Also several nieces and nephews
Predeceased Grandson: Andrew Heichel
Predeceased brother: Thomas Schoonmaker
There will be no visitation and funeral services will be private.
