Obituary of Shirley Brown
Mrs. Shirley A. Brown of Port Jervis, NY, passed away Monday, August 14, 2017 at her home surrounded by her loving family. She was 78.
She was born January 21, 1939 in Meadville Pa., the daughter of the late Walter and the late Ruth Wormuth Hendershot.
She was married to James B. Brown until his passing in 2007.
A family statement read:”Shirley loved working in her garden, sitting on her porch, wandering around Walmart, but more than anything she loved her large extended family which included many friends she thought of as family. But perhaps especially, she loved being a grand and great grandmother.
Surviving are her loving children: Larry Brown and his wife Colleen of Middletown,NY, Peter Brown and his wife Lisa of Hewitt, TX, Laura McKee and her husband Dave of Homosassa, FL; 4 siblings, Elaine Foster of Huguenot, NY, June Lee and her husband Ken of Middletown, NY, Bill Hendershot and his wife Kathy of Concord, NC, Eric Hendershot and his wife Kathy of Middletown, NY; Daughters in law, Elizabeth “Liz” Brown of Sparrowbush and Donna Brown of Cuddebackville; Grandchildren, Jason, Todd, Beth, Lara, Edgar, Theresa, Mark, Ryan, James, Wendell, Amanda, Celina, Joseph, Victoria, Charles, Blakley, Jaylynn and Stefan. A plenitude of Great Grandchildren and loving nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her beloved sons, Walter “Jim” Brown, Jason Brown, and Mark Brown; daughter-in-law Ann Brown; siblings, Walter Hendershot, Joan Decker and Linda Yonts.
Friends may call at the GRAY-PARKER FUNERAL HOME, INC. 100 East Main Street Port Jervis on Friday, August 18, 2017 from 10am – 12 noon.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, August 18, 2017 at 12 noon at the funeral home with Rev. Charles Ryu officiating. Burial will follow at the Pine Hill Cemetery, Sparrowbush, NY.
