June A. "Sally" Russell

June A. “Sally” Russell of Port Jervis, NY entered eternal rest on March 5, 2018 at home, surrounded by her family, after a long illness.

Sally was born June 18, 1930 in Burlington, Vermont to the late Gordon A. Grinder, Sr. and Alice Goodhue Grinder. She was married to the late Robert E. “Bob” Russell, Sr. for 50 years and together they raised eleven children. Sally was born to be a mother, a vocation at which she excelled. She was also a beloved daughter, sister, wife, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great grandmother and aunt. Sally was loved by all who knew her and will be missed more than words can convey. In her later years, Sally enjoyed watching the many birds that visited her feeders and sitting with her beloved cat, Missy, on her lap. Sally was fortunate to be lovingly cared for at home in her last days by her daughter, Pat, and son, Joe.

Sally is survived by her daughters; Gail (Dr. Peter) Byeff of Southington, CT; Nancy Russell of Matamoras, PA; Lynn (Ken Wilson) Russell of San Diego, CA, Patricia (Anthony) Cal, Pamela (John Journey) Russell and Denise Concepcion, all of Port Jervis; her sons; Robert (Linda) Russell, Jr. of Sparrowbush, NY; Joseph Russell at home; John (Cynthia Clune) Russell of Port Jervis; grandchildren Brian Schneider, David Byeff, Stephen Byeff, Michelle Philyaw, William Prespare, Lura Prespare, Eric Russell, Scott Russell, Randy Baumgardner, David Baumgardner, Lori Baumgardner-Yaboni, Sally Russell, Emily Wilson, Veronica Wilson-Murphy, Jeremy Russell, Caleb Russell, Lesley Latini-Dixon, Lauren Latini-Loeb, Andrew Latini, Robert Cal, Marcia Cal, and Kira Journey; great-granddaughter Rebecca Concepcion whom Sally raised; and several great and great-great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Sally is also survived by her brother; Gordon “Buzz” (Barbara) Grinder, Jr. of Alberta, Canada. Besides her husband, Bob, Sally was predeceased by her daughter, Donna Russell; her brothers; Roger Grinder and Norman “Lonnie” Grinder, Sr.; her sister-in-law, Mary Ellen Grinder; her son-in-law, James Baumgardner; and her long-time companion Fred Stoll, Jr., who with his daughters, Linda Mole and Brenda Madsen who survive, became part of her family after Bob’s passing.

The family would like to thank Dr. Mehjabeen Alam and Hospice of Orange and Sullivan for their compassionate care.

In accordance with Sally’s wishes, there will be no visitation and a memorial service will be conducted by The Rev. Canon David Lee Carlson at Grace Episcopal Church, 85 E. Main Street, Port Jervis, NY at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 10, 2018.

Interment of ashes will be with her husband and daughter at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Port Jervis will be at the convenience of the family.
