Mr. Joseph J. O'Brien
Mr. Joseph J. O'Brien of Middletown, NY, died Monday, September 10, 2018 at his home. He was 64.
He was born April 5, 1954 in Brooklyn, NY the son of the late William and the late Veronica O'Brien.
He was a devoted husband to Camille Raiola O’Brien married in September of 1984 until her passing in January of 2003.
Joe was a proud NYC Fire Fighter for 20 years and retired in 2002. Joe was active duty during the tragedy of 9/11. He worked tirelessly and without complaint to help recover and bury his fallen brothers. He was a true hero. He was also the 4th generation fire fighter in his family, following his great-grandfather, grandfather and father into the FDNY. He was also a member of the FDNY Emerald Society.
A family statement read: “He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and brother. He was devoted to his family, always coaching his kids sporting activities and he loved to spend time with his grandkids. He was a true Hero.”

He was loved by all of his nieces, nephews and cousins who enjoyed his many stories.
Joe loved life and loved his family. He will be sorely missed.
Family and friends are invited to visit the Gray-Parker Funeral Home, Inc., 100 E. Main St., Port Jervis, NY 12771 on Wednesday, September 12, 2018 from 5:00pm – 9:00pm.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, September 13, 2018 with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00am at the Holy Cross R. C. Church, 626 County Route 22, Middletown, NY 10940 with Rev. Michael Palazzo officiating.
Burial of ashes in Laurel Grove Cemetery, Port Jervis, NY will be held at a later date.
