Mr. Joseph P. Valentino
Formerly of Blauvelt, N.Y., Joseph passed away on Saturday, June 27, 2020. He was born in the Bronx on Yom Kippur in 1960 with a special blessing bestowed upon him by a Rabbi. Joe was the son of Peter and Marian and loving brother to his advocates and siblings, sister Adele and Marian, and brother Gerard, all of Pennsylvania. He was a friend and “brother” to his brothers-in-law Jim Toth and Dan Sanborn. Joe is survived by his siblings, their spouses, his Aunt Angie Bonfiglio of Long Island, N.Y. and his Uncle Joe and Aunt Betty Valentino of Connecticut, his nieces Jenny, Holly, Lily, and his nephews Frank, Jared, Arran, Kirk, Nicholas and Tristan and several cousins. Joe is predeceased by his parents, his beloved sister Marge Wassmer, and his godfather, Uncle Jimmy Bonfiglio.
Joe- Joey- was an avid Yankees fan, stamp collector and short-wave radio enthusiast, having made worldwide contacts which he enjoyed greatly. He was also a poet and friend to all animals. Joe will be rememnered for having a gentle, witty and generous spirit, he made friends easily with his endearing ways. When you think of Joe, remember to acknowledge the challenges of others, set aside bias, accept and have compassion for those striving to get through this life. Respect one another, and love fully.
Joe’s family wants to thank Sharlyne Gan and the staff of The Tolstoy Foundation in Valley Cottage, N.Y. for providing a haven for Joe. He considered it “home” during his short time there. A special thank you to the charge nurse Mary Deegan for her heartfelt care.
There will be no visitation. A private family remembrance will be held at a future date.

Cremation will be held at MacLennan Hall Crematorium, Milford, PA.
