Mr. Henry J. Holley of Port Jervis, NY and a lifetime resident of the area died Wednesday, December 23, 2020 at home. He was 94.
He was born August 14, 1926 in Otisville, NY the son of the late Henry Easton Holley and the late Ethel M. Byron Holley.
Henry proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II in the 51st Signal Operation Battalion Company A.
He was a well known and respected Attorney in the City of Port Jervis practicing for 63 years. He also served as the Town of Deerpark Attorney and was Bond Counsel for the Orange County Industrial Development Agency.
Henry was the widower of the late Mary Scales Holley and the late Sherrill Elston Holley.
He was a graduate of Wagner College and Brooklyn Law School where he graduated Suma Cum Laude.
Henry was a 64 year member of the Port Jervis Elks Lodge No. 645, Port Jervis; the Lions Club; the Port Jervis Masonic Lodge No. 328 F. & A. M; the Roosa Fleming VFW Post #161 in Port Jervis and a 74 year member of the Floyd Carter Post #1079 American Legion, Otisville, NY and the Smithsonian Institute.
A family statement read: He was a man of the old school. His word was his bond as was his handshake. He had a work ethic that was second to none shown in the fact that he worked until the age of 93. He was an avid reader enjoying poetry, gardening, books by Bill O’Reilly and historical publications. He was also a Jazz music enthusiast. He researched the family history finding that at the Battle of Fort Ticonderoga our Ancestor James Easton fought beside Ethan Allen to defend the fort. Henry was taking classes to become a history teacher and then changed his major to law. He was a very kind and compassionate man and his many qualities will be missed by both family and friends. He was loved.

He was predeceased by his brother John Easton Holley, his infant Sister, Ethel Holley
Predeceased by his best friend Edwin H. Gillinder
There will be no visitation and funeral services will be held private at the convenience of the family.
