Mrs. Ida Hilda Berger of Narrowsburg, NY died Sunday, January 10, 2021 at Allied Services Skilled Nursing Center in Scranton, PA.  She was 86.

She was born June 23, 1934 in Beaver Brook, NY the daughter of the late George LaBarr and the late Hazel Weber LaBarr.

Ida was happily married to Jacob Berger for 42 years before his passing on December 21, 1995.

She worked for many years as an accountant at Rhulen Insurance in Monticello, NY.

Ida was a faithful member of the St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Narrowsburg, NY.

A family statement read: Ida was a loving mother. She was a historian, if you had a question about anything in Narrowsburg, she knew it, she could even remember license plates as they drove by. Ida had such a big heart and she showed it in the way she was there for everyone she knew. She was a very sweet and independent woman right up until the end. She will be truly missed.

Son: John Berger and his wife Robin,                        Sparrowbush, NY

Son: Robert Berger and his wife Melissa K.,             Pittsburg, NY

Grandson: Derek Kautz,                                             Sparrowbush, NY

Great-Grandson: Sebastian Kautz,                            Sparrowbush, NY

Niece: Georgia Borrero,                                             Port Jervis, NY

And many loving nieces, nephews, and cousins.


Ida was predeceased by her 2 brothers, Ernest LaBarr and Charles LaBarr, and her 2 sisters, Midge LaBarr, and Joan Kirby.


There will be no visitation.


Cremation was held at MacLennan Hall Crematorium, Milford, PA.


A graveside service will be held on Monday, January 18, 2021 at 11:30 am in Glen Cove Cemetery, Narrowsburg, NY with Reverend Phyllis Haynes officiating. 


In lieu of flowers, a donation in Ida’s name may be made to Humane Society Of Port Jervis/Deerpark, Inc., 202 Route 209, Port Jervis, N.Y. 12771.
