Mr. Thomas M. “Moose” Connelly of Port Jervis, NY and a lifetime resident of the area died Sunday, November 7, 2021 at home.
He was 73.
He was born August 11, 1948 in Port Jervis, NY the son of the late Thomas J. Connelly and the late Helen Marino Connelly.
Thomas married Carey Sue McIlnay 43 years ago on May 6, 1978 in Port Jervis, NY
He worked as a Corrections Counselor for the Otisville Correctional Facility in Otisville, NY.
Thomas was a member of the Port Jervis Elks Lodge No. 645, Port Jervis.
A family statement read: “Tom was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He was best known to his friends as Moose and his beloved grandkids as Poppy. He enjoyed having company and reliving his glory days with his best friend Jake and his brother Mike. He was an avid sports fan who enjoyed watching and talking about anything sports-related with his sidekick Chucky in the recliner. He had such a presence and loved to tell stories. His greatest joy was making people laugh. We will forever remember his humor, generosity, and dad jokes.”
His loving wife, Carey Sue Connelly at home.
2 Daughters: Michelle Gallo and her husband JD of Sparrowbush, NY and Kristin Outwater and her husband Geoff of Port Jervis, NY.
2 Sisters-in-law: Mary Connelly of Port Jervis, NY and Shelley Roberts and her husband Dick of Port Jervis, NY.
4 grandchildren: Madison, Gracie, Jaxson and Sawyer.
Also several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his brother, Michael Connelly and his sister-in-law, Dana McIlnay.
Family and friends are invited to visit at the GRAY-PARKER FUNERAL HOME, INC. 100 East Main Street Port Jervis, NY Monday, November 15, 2021 from 4:00 PM – 6:00 PM followed by a funeral service at 6:00 PM at the funeral home.
A private burial of cremains will be in the Pine Hill Cemetery, Sparrowbush, NY.
