Mr. Wallace R. Werner

Port Jervis, NY


Mr. Wallace R. Werner of Port Jervis, NY, passed away Friday, July 14, 2017 at Orange Regional Medical Center.  He was 85.

He was born September 13, 1931 in Brooklyn, NY the son of the late William C. and the late Mildred Miller Werner.

He married the love of his life, Mary on May 16, 1953.

He was the owner of the Jersey Avenue Handy Stop in Port Jervis for many years until he retired.

Wallace was a beloved husband and father.  He doted on his wife Mary, always helping her around the house.  He enjoyed playing cards, shooting pool and playing computer games with his friends and when he visited his sisters.  Wallace was a prankster, always making you smile.  He was a die-hard Democrat.


Surviving are:

His loving wife of 64 years Mary Werner at home.

2 Sons:            Allen Werner and his companion Harriet Stewart of Port Jervis      

                        William R. Werner of Port Jervis

A grandson James Werner and his grand dog Gracie.

2 Sisters:         Beverly Launius of West Plains, MO

                        Maureen Werner of West Plains, MO

He was predeceased by his sister Elaine Launius


Friends and family are invited to visit the Gray-Parker Funeral Home, Inc. 100 East Main Street Port Jervis on Wednesday, July 19, 2017 from 12:00pm - 2:00pm.


Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, July 19, 2017 at 2pm at the funeral home.


Burial will be at Rural Valley Cemetery, Cuddebackville, NY.


In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Humane Society of Port Jervis/Deerpark, Inc., 202 Route 209, Port Jervis, NY 12771 or to Hospice Of Orange And Sullivan Counties, 800 Stony Brook Court, Newburgh, N.Y. 12550.
