Michael J. Kowal of Port Jervis, NY, passed away Saturday, December 16, 2017 at Westchester Medical Center. He was 86.
He was born March 22, 1931 in Port Jervis, NY the son of the late Nat and the late Anna Kowal.
Mike Proudly served his country in the United States Navy.
He was married to his beloved wife Jane, for 55 years until her passing in November of 2008.
Mike was the Advertisement Manager for the Union Gazette in Port Jervis for 45 years.
Mike was a past member of the Lions Club in Port Jervis and a lifelong member of St. Mary’s R.C. Church. He was a longtime member of the Port Jervis Country Club, where he was an avid golfer and enjoyed being with his golfing buddies. He was a loving Dad and Grandfather who was a big fan of the NY Yankees, Giants, Knicks, and the Rangers. He will be deeply missed by family and friends.

Granddaughter, Nicole Lutz of Dingman’s Ferry, PA and Step Granddaughter, Heather Jenkins of San Diego, CA.
Brother in Law: Dr. Paul Horsman, Sister-in-law: Nita Horsman;
Nieces, Janet Ridder, Susan Dapolito, Virginia Murphy, Karen Franklin, Kathy Horsman, Mary Ann Semerano, Evanna Sullivan, Ann Marie Latini; Nephews, Tom, John Jr., Nat, Joe, Richard and Peter Kowal, Carl and Michael Mandzy, Tom Horsman. Also several other great nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his sister, Mary Mandzy; Brothers, Peter and John Kowal Sr.; Brothers-in-law, Marvin Mandzy and David Horsman and his sisters-in-law, Mary Kowal and Eleanor Kowal.
Friends may call at the Gray-Parker Funeral Home, Inc. 100 East Main Street Port Jervis on Tuesday, December 19, 2017 from 3:00pm - 7:00pm.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, December 20, 2017 with a 9:15am prayer at the funeral home, followed by a 10am Mass of Christian Burial in St. Mary's R.C. Church, 46 Ball St., Port Jervis, NY 12771 with Rev. Matthew Newcomb officiating.
Burial will be at St. Mary's Cemetery, Port Jervis, NY.
