Obituary of Caleb Teller, Sr.
Mr. Caleb Thomas Teller, Sr. a long time resident of Port Jervis, NY died Friday, March 2, 2018 at Newton Memorial Hospital, Newton, NJ surrounded by his loving family. He was 84.
He was born January 1, 1934 in Spot, NC, the son of the late William Christopher Teller and the late Grace Duling Teller.
Tom married Rose Marie "Toots" Theodore on March 9, 1957 in St. Mary's R.C. Church in Port Jervis and they were married for 56 years prior to her death on November 13, 2013.
He proudly served his country in the United States Navy from 1950 - 1970 during Vietnam and the Korean Conflict. He served on U.S. battleships and the majority of his service was on submarines achieving the rank of Chief Petty Officer. Tom served our country for 20 years until he retired from the U.S. Navy in 1970 and was also a recruiting officer in Port Jervis.
Tom was a member of: Tri-State Naval Ship Post #7241 in Port Jervis, the Port Jervis Masonic Lodge No. 328 F. & A.M., Tri-State Rod & Gun Club and the National Rifle Association (NRA). He was also a champion chess player where he was stationed at the Naval Submarine Base New London in Groton, CT.
A family statement read: "Dad was a loyal caring man who always took care of his family and never hesitated to go out of his way to help anyone in need."
Surviving are his son: Caleb "Tommy" Teller and his wife, Dawn of Dingman's Ferry, PA; his two daughters, Adista "Disty" Bello and Stacy Russell, both of Port Jervis, NY; six grandchildren: Michael Kimberlin and his wife, Amy, Marie Kimberlin, Connor Kimberlin Teller, Cassandra Kimberlin Teller, Kallie DeGroat and her companion, Simon Brewer and Caleb Russell and his fiancé, Jennifer Millman and her children: Maddy, Kami and Chris; two great-granddaughters, Ava Kimberlin and Olivia Kimberlin; sister, Betty Ray LoCascio of Cape May, NJ and brother, William Teller and his wife, Robin of West Point, VA; also several nieces and nephews.
He is predeceased by his great-grandson, Clark Michael Kimberlin; two brothers-in-law, William and Edward Theodore; sister-in-law, June Theodore Breitfeller;
Friends may call from 10 a.m. to 12 noon, Tuesday, March 6 at Gray-Parker Funeral Home, Inc., 100 E. Main St., Port Jervis, NY12771. Funeral services follow calling hours at 12 noon at the funeral home. Burial with military honors will be at St. Mary's Cemetery, Port Jervis.
